My Personal Handheld Computer - THE BEST
TOOL FOR PERSONAL SPIRITUALITY!
Hi Moms,
I want to share with you all a fantastic tool that I have been so blessed
to find that helps me so much in my daily walk with God. My husband gave
me a Palm Pilot PDA (pocket computer)for Christmas (see picture above)
To be honest, I wasn't that thrilled with the gift at first - I had seen
those tiny handheld computersand thought it was just a glorified calculator
and dayplanner! I had no idea the many wonderful practical applications
of this tiny wonder!
It is truly just about the size of a calculator, but here is what I have
in my unit:
+ The entire Duary Rheims Bible
+ The entire Catholic Catechism
+ Hundreds of Tracts from Catholic Answers regarding every issue related
to Catholic Theology and apologetics
+ All of the encyclicals of Pope John Paul II
+ Daily gospel readings and meditations
+ Daily meditations on the patron saint of the day (their lives,etc...)
+ Catholic prayers and devotions
+ Updated daily Catholic news
+ A virtual rosary and Stations of the Cross complete w/ pictures
+ And lots more!
I carry this wonderful little unit with me everywhere - and all of this
information is literally at my fingertips for whenever I may have a few
spare minutes throughout my busy day. This thing is truly fantastic. Standing
in line at the post office for ten minutes? Break out the Palm Pilot and
read some great prayers!
Plus, my husband has one and our lives have never been more 'in sync!"
--we sinc our calendars together so that now both of us know everything
that is going on with our schedules and the schedules of our six children.
This little unit has really been a God-send to us.
The cost of the unit now start at just 99.00, and sometimes less!
Name brand doesn't really matter - I have a Palm, but there are many other
types that basically all do the same thing.
I'm always striving to update this website to keep information current
and share ideas that work. This little handheld computer is awesome and
the best thing to come along for my prayer life since the home computer!
Just keep it in mind if you have a little extra money and are looking
for a great way to enhance your spiritual life by making information available
to yourself whenever you may need it.
The unit comes with software that is easily loaded onto it using your
own
home computer. A small connnecting device called a sinc unit connects
your
home pc with your palm pilot. It's very easy to install and use. The manual
that comes with the Palm Pilot tells you step by step how to set everything
up. It's very user-friendly.
You simply connect your palm to your home computer using the sinc unit,
go
to that website address above and download all the programs, and your
sinc
unit will automatically install these new programs for you on your palm
pilot. It's very easy to do. I got all the programs set up in an evening
or two.
Every morning you can sinc your unit to download all the major news of
the
day, the daily readings, etc. from a site called MobileGabrielle.com and
other sites.
All of these services and programs are free!
The other programs come with your unit already - a shopping list program,
a
day planner, an address book, a 'to-do' checklist, expense planners,
etc...and you can also download lots of other neat free programs from
various places on the net.
What a marvel! This thing has replaced all of my prayerbooks, bibles,
etc! I
used to have a huge bag of books I'd take with me to prayer meetings and
when we travel. Now I just need my Palm Pilot! You can even download entire
books into your unit to read when you want (I have some of the great books
by Archbishop Fulton Sheen - I just love him!) These works are all also
available free from the Catholic download website address I gave above.
I
don't know who runs that website, but they do a fabulous job of getting
terrific and very orthodox software programs free for the Palm Pilot.
I thank God that good people are finding a way to use this wonderful modern
technology for His greater honor and glory! I am so impressed with what
a
great tool this is for growing in one's faith that I'm adding this page
